From Greece to Spain (via Italy): Our Grand European Road & Ferry Journey

Buckle up, fellow vagabonds and armchair adventurers! We recently embarked on a rather ambitious (some might say "bonkers") cross-continental dashcam odyssey (MAP), taking us from the sun-drenched shores of Greece via a detour into North Macedonia & Skopje (see 🚙 From Greece to North Macedonia and Back: Skopje Adventures in Shehzadi! 🇬🇷➡️🇲🇰➡️🇬🇷), all the way to the vibrant landscapes of Spain, with a delightful (and slightly chaotic) pit stop in Italy. This wasn't just a trip; it was a testament to our enduring love for ferries, questionable navigation, and the sheer joy of watching Europe whiz by from the comfort of our… well, dashcam!

Our grand adventure kicked off at the bustling Igoumenitsa Ferry Port in Greece [00:19]. Picture this: us, surrounded by towering trucks and bewildered tourists, attempting to gracefully board a colossal Minoan Lines ferry [01:12]. Let's just say our parking skills were put to the ultimate test as we squeezed into a spot amidst a labyrinth of vehicles [01:34]. Miraculously, we made it, and soon we were sailing towards Italy, dreaming of pasta and panoramic views.

Disembarking at Ancona Ferry Port, Italy [02:09], felt like stepping onto another planet – or at least, a very different highway. Our trusty dashcam then became our chronicler as we zipped across Italy [02:43], traversing the stunning landscapes from the Adriatic to the Tyrrhenian Sea. It was a whirlwind of picturesque towns and endless roads, punctuated by our urgent quest for espresso and maybe a gelato (or five).

Next up: the Civitavecchia Ferry Port, Italy [03:06], where we braced ourselves for round two of our ferry escapades. Boarding the Grimaldi Lines ferry [04:05] felt like a well-rehearsed dance this time, albeit one with a few extra steps of "are we going the right way?" Soon, we were sailing towards Spain, undoubtedly serenaded by the gentle hum of the ship and the distant cries of seagulls (or was that just us, excitedly anticipating tapas?).

Finally, we docked at Barcelona Ferry Port, Spain [04:48], ready to conquer the last leg of our journey. The drive to Mar De Pulpi, Almeria [07:01], was a delightful blur of changing scenery, from highways stretching into the horizon to charming local roads. Our dashcam captured every twist and turn, every stunning vista, and probably a few moments of us singing off-key to our favorite travel anthems.
